2022 Candy Stripe Classic

March 12th – 13th

ALL SATURDAY RACES CANCELLED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

Bloomington Velo is co-sponsoring the 3rd annual Candy Stripe Classic with the Indiana University Cycling Club! This event is a two-day bike race for collegiate bike teams.

The first day (Saturday, March 12) will feature a road race and team time trial in Morgan-Monroe State Forest. The second day (Sunday, March 13) will be a criterium in the Purple Lot of the IU Athletics campus.

Spectator Parking

Parking for the road race is available North of the Morgan-Monroe State Forest entrance on Old State Road 37 (just West of Forest Road). Team busses will park on Bean Blossom Road to access feed zones.

Road Race Parking

Parking for the criterium will be available in the White Lot (Gate 8) of Memorial Stadium.

On Sunday, September 26th several members of the Bloomington Velo team raced in Bloomingcross cyclocross race at Karst Farm Park. This race was hosted by Ohio Valley Cyclocross (OVCX) who hosts several cyclocross races throughout the region.

Mike Poe raced in the Men’s 4 40+ race, Matt Emmert raced in the Master’s 50+, and Steve Carwile raced in the Elite Men 1/2.

Bloomington Velo Team Time Trial

Tuesday October 5th at 5:00 PM

Bloomington Velo will be hosting a team time along the very popular Wayport loop. This will be a free event that is open to the general public, there will not be a registration fee or professional timing. This is a race where everyone can engage in friendly competition and enjoy the company of fellow cyclists. Public parking will not be available, cyclists are encouraged to ride to the start point. Acceptable bikes for this event are time trial, road, and little 5 bikes.

The time trial route is a 6.62-mile course that circles around I-69 along Wayport Road & Burma Road. The start line is located in front of Oliver Winery. The course will run clockwise starting south on Wayport and end on the start line completing 1 lap.

All racers participating in this event voluntarily agree to racing on open roads and acknowledging that Bloomington Velo is not responsible for any injuries or damage to equipment. The risks of road cycling include but are not limited to road condition, weather, vehicular traffic, and personal health/fitness parameters. All racers participating in this event are competing at their own risk.
